Micro-cracking simulation in porous materials.

Novel algorithms were developed to simulate micro-crack propogation in cortical bone.

This research was initiated to simulate micro-crack propagation observed in cortical bone during digital image-guided failure assessment experimental procedures developed at ETH Zurich. The experimental process enables the sub-micron visualisation [REF] of crack initiation and propagation. The developed simulation algorithm uses voxel removal and a novel stress gradient procedure.
